meet owner and senior moderator, Sandra Johnston

Sandra Johnston is a senior research moderator. She established Johnston Research in 2006. Prior to that, Sandra worked for two years with a national research firm. Since beginning her career in market research in 2004, Sandra has moderated over 540 focus groups and has conducted nearly 300 in-depth interviews. In addition to her real life experience, Sandra is a RIVA trained moderator and is in the process of pursuing her CMRP designation.

Sandra credits her success as a moderator to her genuine interest in peoples’ opinions, “I really am interested in why people think what they think. It helps me to connect with them and I think it encourages people to speak openly and honestly.”

Before her career as a marketing research practitioner, Sandra was a buyer of research. She had a rewarding career in the areas of corporate performance, program evaluation and customer service.

By the end of a project, Sandra is seen as an enthusiastic, contributing member of the client’s team. Sandra realizes and respects that when conducting a research project, she is acting on behalf of the client and she commits to conducting all research in a professional, ethical and respectful way, ensuring a positive image of the client is presented to all research participants.

Sandra is an active member of the Marketing Research and Intelligence Association (MRIA) and currently sits on the board of the Alberta Chapter.
